Journals in Kojen 8/8

So I was sitting beside the radio, rotting, listening to BBC7 comedy programs, then I came up with this idea of asking this girl out for a cup of coffee. Her name was Zoe. She has a degree in Russian language and a minor in Journalism( I still don't understant why people start to choose this odd combination). One of the reasons that I asked her out was that she's heading for Moscow for further study. Surely, I'm not gonnal miss this chance to talk about her future plans.

So we met at seven and kept on talking and talking until I decided to stop taking advantage of her(I asked her Russian grammar problems most of the time) It was a informative talk though, and the strange thing was I went home and slept liek a baby. My long-standing sleep problems seemed to be miraculously cured.

I'm gonna spend five months preparing for the FCE exam held by Cambridge University. To focus on oral speaking practice and listening to Brtish English, I stopped praticing Russian. It was very harmful decision for someone who had been learning second language for one and half years, because it takes continuing practice to learn a language well.
Still, I really have to do it this way, because I had some awful experiences when I was learning English and Russian at the same time. Like sometimes you mispoke and said," I was in Москве.'
Yet it's ok for me to do that from time to time, considering my russian teacher has an degree in TESL; it was things like you combine Russian adjectives and English nouns in a sentence that bothers me. Say, the teacher would ask me, "Jerome, can you use this sentence pattern to make a new sentence?" "конечно," I responded with confidence, "У меня уже есть breakfast(I've had breakfast already)" Usually at a moment like this, he will turn to me, with a innocent look on his face, and say, "Отлично(of course), except that the word breakfast is English, let's no to do that too much."



PS. as you might notice that some of these paragraphes aren't strongly related, if it is true, please don't hesitate to point that out for me.

I think I'm probably dead already. I don't know how to start a free-writing. I know you would say, "well, it's not htat terrible." But if you cuold just find out how many sheets I have ripped off from this notebook, you would understand how serious the problem is.
A lots of writing guidebook say that the most difficult thing is to think of yor first sentense. Well, it sounds very true to me. Every time I want to write down something meaningful. I could only think of few sentenses. And that's it, after that, my brain seems to stop functioning.

Journals in Kojen-7/13

I waswatching a stand-up comedy show the other night. I have always wanted to be a stand-up comedian in my fiftie; I think I am a man with some traits that would probably make me a good stand-up comedy performer. From time to time, I'd prepare some materials and give it a lot of thought as to how to present it to the audience. Somehow it is not that successful as I thought it would be. I guess my failure is mainly derived from cultural difference- stand-up comdedy shows are Western cultural products. Many punch lines of these jokes are funny because the performer and the audiences share the same cultural backgrounds and experiences.
